What I Know for Sure PDF Print E-mail

October newsletter What I KnowAs a woman you've got to love October this is the month when we make an appointment to have our breasts pressed between two cold plates, female entrepreneurs are celebrating Small Business Week and the recognition that we do have a place in the world's economy and our matriarchal side is looking for new soup and casserole recipes, digging out blankets & throws and stocking up on cold remedies.

This is also when we check out our winter wardrobe; so while I am deciding if I should buy those tall chocolate brown leather boots I thought that I would steal an idea from O Magazine's back page and share a few things that I do know for sure.

  • It's not the event that generates emotion it is how I react to it.
"Stress doesn't come from what's going on in your life. It comes from your thoughts about what is going on in your life." Andrew Bernstein, author of The Myth of Stress. October, Chatelaine
  • I can finally give my elevator speech in one sentence.
What is the sentence that describes what you do? It is ok to start by just getting comfortable with "I am a business woman".
  • Everything that I engage in may not have a tangible outcome
... but it has to work towards the sum total of a complete picture.
  • Life does not give us enough time to waste it on fear.
When I started TimeFinders Magazine I stretched myself and the conventional coaching borders. I wanted to offer more than a few resources thrown onto a web page. As it has grown, what I have learnt and the women I have met have been an added bonus.
  • I really cannot do it all
... and I no longer feel the need to prove that I can.

Try writing yourself a list of your favorite life lessons; 5 or so things that you know for sure. I found it therapeutic but I'm still not certain whether I really need those boots!

There is a post about 'What's Your Sentence?' on Tory Johnson's blog. The subject came up while she was interviewing the always interesting Daniel Pink.
