Let’s get this out of the way I don’t do business plans or new business start-ups, they are not my area of expertise. I do work with entrepreneurs and small business owners identifying problems and challenges, and then propose solutions you can actually put into use. I will help you to clarify the goals and aims you need to grow your business. Then provide the tools and techniques to help you reach those goals.

Prepare the marketing and networking plan that has you talking to and reaching people not just your peers in the industry

You have an idea so you need a comprehensive and well researched feasibility study

Revive an unproductive or boring website

........... AND I know that sometimes you many want to just talk, brainstorm and we can do that too

Working with a business coach enables you to put your business in the right direction while remembering the importance of your life as a whole. Don’t hire a coach just to agree with you be open to their expertise. They are there to guide and support but ultimately it is your business. A business coach should meet your time and budget needs. Change the world but have a plan first

Entrepreneurship isn't about making money it’s about changing the world was the title of this post about Matt Mullenweg in the Sprouter Weekly blog. My response? Crap.

Twenty something entrepreneur Matt Mullenweg has a net worth of 40 million dollars. Unrealistic statements like this are usually made by the rich (think Oprah) or as a sweeping generality to describe someone who no longer has to make mortgage payments.

Is it important that we love what we do? Do we want to make a difference? Of course. It only takes one thank you card from a grateful client to make my day but what that same client pays me for my services also bought groceries and covers the power bill.

We have to take entrepreneurship out of the realm of ‘just follow your passion’ and put it into the reality of long hours, hard work and that uneven path to a decent income. We are misleading future entrepreneurs into believing that all it takes is an altruistic seed and a successful business is born.

I have worked with more than one client who entered into business solely based on a passion or a good idea but time found them ill prepared for what comes next. I encourage potential entrepreneurs to dream, research and plan; just don’t quit your day job to change the world there is a lot of ground work to cover before you can do that.
