I like a good suit on a business woman it says all the right things however we may be neutralizing it too much. Last week I came across a page of photographs in the National Post. It was covering an awards evening for business women in the communication field. The majority of the women were in black or grey suits. And they all looked alike.

When you are in a room full of people you need to stand out, subtly but stand out nevertheless. Distinguish yourself in a blouse, camisole, scarf something with a shot of colour. Because on this particular evening if a member of the press or someone wanted to introduce themselves to one of the winners they would have a difficult time figuring out which women in a dark grey suit was which.

Thank goodness one company director was wearing a stunning chocolate brown silk jacket, she looked both professional and striking.
